MANUFACTURING AREA

Located in Portillo de Toledo, our Manufacturing Plant Area is in charge of all the activities concerning the acquisition of production equipment and raw materials, quality control procedures, environmental management, equipment maintenance, product distribution and manufacturing management.

In LABORATORIOS INDAS, we believe in continuous investment in technology as one of the keys to enhanced competitiveness. Thus, in 2004-2005, we underwent a technological revolution, changing all the machinery involved in the manufacture of absorbent products for incontinence, which account for 61% of total production.

The new, state-of-the-art machinery is endowed with innovating control systems that make the manufacturing process much more efficient, optimising the use of raw materials in cost-effective and environment-friendly ways.

Our plant was also equipped with two new products: light manipulators, which enable workers to replace materials more easily, and a recirculating system for the hot air produced in the manufacturing process itself, which allows for this air to be purified and used by air conditioners in the workplace. Thus, we save energy and issue purer air.

The revolution included an extension of the Quality Laboratory in terms of both surface area and staff. The new lab has upgraded facilities and instruments: a microbiology room, simulators, models, a dynamometer, a fume extraction cabinet, an aging room, among many other cutting-edge features that make work more accurate and comprehensive.

LABORATORIOS INDAS’s Environment and Quality System provides us with reliable procedures for ongoing product improvement. In 2004, we were granted the ISO 14001 environmental certification, guaranteeing our wise use of natural resources and commitment to go on improving and protecting the environment. Since 1996, we also have the ISO 9001 CE marking

The technological change involved great training efforts for our 242 plant workers. Thanks to their skills, we are able to increase productivity by the year, with investments totalling 12,800,000 euros in 2004 and 2,500,000 in 2005.

Another interesting aspect is the evolution of our trade relations with China. In 2004 and 2005, we signed quality agreements with our main suppliers there. Besides, we have added Chinese employees to our permanent staff, to control the quality of the raw materials imported from this Asian market.

The investment we made to implement the best technology available and the reliability of our excellent quality system are the keys to our success in innovation.
